Mavka: the Forest Song

Young and naive forest spirit Mavka, develops feelings for a human musician, Lukas. As they grow closer to each other, an inevitable situation forces Mavka to choose between her love and her duty as a guardian of the forest. Based on Lesya Ukrainka's play, The Forest Song, it portrays characters from Slavic and Ukrainian folk mythology

This screening is free of charge thanks to a collaboration between CinemaSF and the California Battalion of the 50 States For Ukraine initiative. During the campaign, states are holding a friendly competition in fundraising for pickup trucks sent to various units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the frontline to help ensure their safety and mobility.
