San Francisco, CA
Photo

Join a special commemorative event honoring the millions of Ukrainians who perished during the Holodomor and preserving their memory for future generations. The program features “Holodomor Genocide in Films,” a presentation by Nataliia Goshylyk, Ph.D., Lecturer in Ukrainian Studies at UC Berkeley, on how Ukrainian and international filmmakers have documented and interpreted the Holodomor through cinema. Guests will also attend the Bay Area premiere of Grandpa Myroshko’s Scary Tales, a new cycle of three Ukrainian short films produced by Fresh Production Group. Created for family audiences, the films explore survival, memory, generational continuity, and the destructive power of propaganda through a child’s perspective. Presented by the International Center of the San Francisco Public Library in association with the Ukrainian American Coordinating Council, the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco, and Ukraine Matters. Admission is free, and all are welcome to come remember, learn, and help pass the truth from generation to generation.
